Going back to Cali

Tomorrow I leave for a short trip back to the place that stole my heart, California. To be more specific, San Diego. My flight is booked and I am going to see a long time friend from my college days! We haven’t seen each other in at least 10-15 years but have kept in touch over the years through social media and more recently, by phone.

As someone who doesn’t have much flexibility with my job to travel, this trip is a big deal for me. I read so many travel blogs and see on Instagram how amazing it is to travel. There’s freedom in going where you want to go and doing what you want to do. For me, in reality, life doesn’t always allow for that type of freedom. I have a career in healthcare that I love and as an adult, I have bills that must be paid. I don’t have much time at the end of the day to scan the internet for flight deals or search for realistic ways to live within my means so I can hop on a plane to wherever, just because I want to.

Now all of that may scream “Debbie Downer” and seem like one excuse after another. Well, maybe it is but regardless, it’s my life.

So I am happy to report that I am taking this trip to sunny San Diego, California and when you have the longing to travel nesting in the core of your heart, no moment will be taken for granted.

When I return I hope to have photos and maybe a few tips for all of you who are like me, “ballin’ on a budget!”

What I am taking from all of this, is that life presents to you people, circumstances and situations just when you need them. My friend and I, probably would’ve never thought we’d be seeing each other in our late 30’s after we left college. I never thought I’d be taking this trip out to California solo (because I let fear keep me from ever traveling alone)…but here I am! Life is crazy sometimes and whatever you are going through, keep hoping, keep asking for what you want. I promise you, it will present itself to you at just the right time!
